We are at our best when we're part of a team, building something that makes the world better.  I was fortunate to work in an entrepreneurial business for 25 years, where I did the detailed work of engineering, marketing, product management, and selling to hospitals and device manufacturers.  There were few boundaries – only a shared desire to create a positive impact on everyone connected to the business.  As the company grew from a small machine shop to a global brand, I shifted to general management, aligning our functions and business segments, and delivering profitable growth.

Trained in mechanical engineering at Caltech and business management at UC Berkeley, I spent the first 12 years of my career engineering new products for healthcare and industrial markets, experiencing firsthand how diverse people collaborate and great products get made.  The design process was of particular interest.  What spoke to me was the openness to understand problems deeply, and the tenacity to iterate until something clicked.  I take this designer's mindset into company-building, whether I'm developing growth strategy, solving a management problem, creating a new team, or bringing a new product to market.  In addition to setting strategy, I built five sales teams around the globe and drove numerous complex technical sales.

Over almost three decades of doing this, I've assembled a network of world-class engineers, marketing professionals, salespeople, and manufacturers.  They have taught me so much, and I am proud to call them colleagues and friends.
